I'm guessing if you landed here, you really don't have a whole lot going on, because it's really one of the most uninteresting pages on the site. So before we get down to the actual lingo mumbo jumbo, there's a couple things I would suggest.
A lot of times when it comes to terms and services, people are really curious about privacy. What do we do with your information?

Let’s unpack terms & conditions
Now, here's the real thing, when it comes down to terms and conditions, we're going to always focus on doing what's right, and making sure that in every interaction that what we provide is way more value than we receive.
The terms below are just general terms… because the specific terms and conditions of working with us are based on what you signed up for. This is because there's a huge difference between signing up for job alerts, where all you gave us was your name, email, and the type of job you are looking for… versus actually paying money for something such as a course or whatever.
So if you are interested in exactly the specifics of what you can and can't expect from any given relationship with Ryan Kay and Refer.io, check out the information page about the specific thing you've signed up for.
Job Alert Emails
When it comes to job alerts… we process job alerts both from Ryan Kay for people who opted in to get jobs from any employer, as well as directly for individual employers when you opt in on their site. We don't ask for any money from the job seeker for this. So the terms and conditions are really bound by normal things like email spam etc, which basically says, “If you don't want to get emails from us, let us know by clicking on the unsubscribe links at the bottom of all of our emails, and we'll stop sending emails to you.
Really… it’s just that simple!
Based on your job preferences, original employer selection, and your engagement with our content, we may suggest additional employers that might interest you. These suggestions are sent via email and are completely optional - it is entirely up to you whether to subscribe to alerts from any suggested employer. The suggested employers do not have access to your information unless and until you choose to subscribe to their alerts.
What do we do with your information?
For the most part, we only use it to get better and better at sending you advice or jobs, we don't sell it, and we don't provide it to third parties.
We do not use it to sell you anything outside of things that have to do with your career.
The only people who can see your information besides us would be any employers that you have specifically subscribed to receive alerts from, and anybody that you give that information to after you leave a refer.io email. We may use your job preferences, the employer you originally subscribed to, and your engagement with our emails (such as which jobs you click on) to suggest additional employers that might be a good fit for your career interests. However, these suggested employers cannot see your information unless and until you actively choose to subscribe to their job alerts.
What if you don't want to be a part of refer anymore?
While we'd be very sad to have you leave us, we respect your right to choose to no longer get our emails, or content. Inside every email we send is an unsubscribe link that you can click on to be removed from. You can choose the level of subscription you want. You can also unsubscribe from very specific emails or from them altogether. You can also reply to any message and let us know that you'd like to be opted out and we will help you get removed from our email lists.
If you're an employer
Most employers whose jobs are sent out by refer don't actually have a direct relationship with refer.io… and so it leads to a handful of questions.
How did we get your jobs? Generally speaking, we get your jobs from a third party such as a job board or an applicant tracking vendor or we scrape them off of your career site.
We're not doing anything nefarious or evil with your jobs. We're simply finding job seekers who might be interested in them and sending those people over to your site to apply.
What if you don't want your jobs to be part of refer?
Well, I personally can't understand why an employer would not want their jobs to be sent out to potential job seekers. And to be honest, it's almost impossible for an employer to publish their jobs online as well as restrict who can get access to them.
If for some reason you don't want your jobs to be part of refer.io anymore… we can help you with that. Simply hit our contact us page and send us an email with a link to the job you're referencing, and information about you as an employer, and we'd be more than happy to start a conversation with you to talk about what we could do to ensure your jobs wouldn't be sent out to refer subscribers anymore.
My Personal Commitment
Terms and Conditions come and go… but a person's character & core values are hopefully more long term.
Refer.io has always been a labor of love for me. I’ve been working on this project for the last 6 years now, and have dedicated a significant amount of programmer resources to it. While we continue to diligently work to grow and scale this project, which will lead to us finding new ways to both add value to our subscribers as well as generate revenue, the one thing that you can depend on is that we will be guided by a set of principles or values… what I call “my commitments”.
I will give value first!
I will care more about helping you with you career path than anyone else you know.
I will focus on helping you actually be successful at anything career related… not just getting you to click on something!
I will ensure that if I ask anyone for money, especially job seekers and employees, that I will provide 10 times more value then I was paid.
I will make it right if someone feels they didn’t get value for what they paid us.
I'll be transparent… if you want to know what's going on… just ask.
I'll be available, send me an email and it will get read. And if it's important, it will definitely get a response. But if you're really worried about something, I will respond personally to it!

Accounts
When you create an account with us, you guarantee that you are above the age of 18, and that the information you provide us is accurate, complete, and current at all times. Inaccurate, incomplete, or obsolete information may result in the immediate termination of your account on the Service.
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account and password, including but not limited to the restriction of access to your computer and/or account.
